History of java:
¨In 1991, James Gosling and Patrick Naughton with his co-worker
started a secret project called “Green” in Sun Micro System company.
¨It create a completely new platform for software
development, that would solve many of the problem in existing embedded system.
¨Gosling decided t call his language “OAK”.
¨In 1992, they developed and delivered product called “ *7 ”. It was an extremely intelligent remote control.
¨first publicly available version of JAVA (java 1.0 ) was
released in 1995.
¨In 1995, “OAK”
was renamed as “JAVA”, because of some
legal problems.
¨Java 1.0 in this version it support database
connectivity and distributed object.
¨Version 1.1 release February 19,1997 added a robust
event model, AWT enhancements ,JAR files, internationalization RMI and Java
Beans.
¨It promised Write Once, Run Anywhere (WORA).
¨On 13 Nov 2006, sunmicrosystem released much of java as free and open source software
under the terms of the GNU general Public License.
