What is Linear Programming Problem?

What is Linear Programming Problem (L.P.P)?

Definition:

Linear Programming is a technique for determining an optimum schedule of interdependent activities in view of the available resources.

Mathematical Formulation of L.P.P:

The following major steps are involve in LPP.
  1. Study the given condition to find the key decision to be made.
  2. Identify the variables involves in designate by symbol, xj(j=1, 2, 3,....)
  3. Identify the constraints in the problems and express them as Linear functions of decisions variables.
  4. State the feasible alternatives which generally are xj>=0 for all j.
  5. Identify the objective function and  express it as a linear function of the decision variables.
